From BC to Alberta and back again: the Brauns have experienced poultry farming in both provinces.
Dean is a second-generation poultry farmer who was born and raised in Bradner in BC’s Fraser Valley. In the mid 1990s, he and his family moved to Bon Accord, Alberta, where they were partners in a 250,000-bird broiler operation.
Building on the experience and knowledge that they gained in Alberta, Dean, his wife Jaime and the rest of the family moved back to BC in 2012, settling in Abbotsford to manage their own farm – Brooks Poultry Ranch Ltd. Dean enjoys the rhythm of the day-to-day tasks associated with raising 65,000 broilers while Jaime takes care of the books.
Brooks Poultry Ranch has been buying feed and store products from Clearbrook Grain & Milling since the Brauns returned to Abbotsford. “They provide quality feed and vet consultations,” says Dean. This ensures healthier flocks and higher productivity for the farm. “We also like being able to shop for farm supplies at their animal health store.”
The Brauns value the relationship they have built with Clearbrook Grain & Milling over the years. Dean says, “We really appreciate the relationship we have with them. It’s been mutually rewarding.”
